Rick brings a long and distinguished history of work in the public and private sector to the Canadian Strategy Group team. Through the course of his career, he has three times served as an Alberta cabinet minister, CEO of several junior energy companies, and board member to numerous privately held and publicly traded companies. For more than thirty years, Rick has accrued invaluable government, and business management expertise, as well as in corporate finance, negotiations and mergers and acquisitions.
During his time as MLA, Rick served in three cabinet portfolios: Career Development and Employment Responsible for Lotteries, Major Fairs and Exhibitions, Labour, and Energy, and was instrumental in leading, planning and implementing province wide initiatives that left a lasting impression, including the Labour Market Strategy, the Labour Code, Natural Resources Conservation Board, and Towards 2000 Together—a province-wide consultative initiative that sought public input on how Alberta could prepare for, and prosper in, the decade ahead. He also led numerous trade and investment missions to the Middle-East and Southeast Asia.
